Taking a Break

In the fall of 2010, when I was just 19 years old, I had the opportunity to interview one of my favorite living authors, Stephen Elliott (The Adderall Diaries), for my college's newspaper. The final question I asked in the interview was "If you could tell people who want to be writers one thing, what would it be?" Stephen Elliott's response to my question was, "That they should focus on all the good things about writing and remember why they started writing. You have to do it for the art and if you lose sight of that, you'll be unhappy. If you focus on all of the good things about writing and why you love it, then you'll be happy."

A decade later, I'm a writer in my own right with four published books, a poem, two short stories, and several articles and research papers under my belt, not to mention my blog, which has grown increasingly popular in recent months. I've basically been writing nonstop for the past decade; and I'm making the difficult decision to pull away for a while and take a break from it. I've been feeling stressed out and burnt out recently, so I decided to take a break from writing for a while so I can recharge my battery. At this point, I don't know how long the break will last. I'll still be active on social media and will promote my already finished work(s), but I'm pressing pause on my current projects.

Thank you everyone for your support at this time.
